What are the braces colors?

As a registered Dental Hygienist for 20 years I have helped countless people choose a braces color and I see how they actually look after weeks on in real life. Here is what I recommend when it comes to looking good.

You can customize braces with colored elastics to match your style, season, or mood. Choose colors that complement your skin tone and hair, or go bold and have fun with it.

If you wear metallic or ceramic braces your orthodontist will use elastic colored o ties on your braces. These help hold the archwire in place. They come with so many color options and you might have to wear a color for weeks at a time. So sit back and let me tell you how to pick a cute braces color. These are some of the best braces color ideas when choosing a single color.

Your Personal Color Scheme

Start with something easy. Take a look at your closet. Can you see a dominant color that you like to wear? If you pick a braces color that compliments or matches a color you like to wear regularly then that is a great choice for a braces color. The reason this works is psychological and practical. If you already wear a lot of blues or purples because they make you feel more confident then picking a similar braces color will create a similar affect. It will also create a put together match look that is balanced and creates visual harmony. This look reinforces confidence and easy because you will naturally gravitate to clothes that is matching your smile.

Pick colors that complement your eyes

Another choice would be to pick a color that compliments your eyes. For example, many people with blue eyes look great with the color blue and people with brown eyes look amazing with the color purple. Matching the color to your eyes makes for a color that pops and looks cute.

Pick colors that make teeth appear whiter

Pick colors that tend to naturally make teeth appear whiter. Colors like navy, periwinkle, purple and sometimes black can contrast against teeth making them appear brighter. Her’s the color theory. Blue and purple sit opposite yellow on the color wheel, so they neutralize yellow tones in your teeth and make them appear whiter by comparison. Black can have the same effect. Avoid warm colors like yellow, orange, or gold because they can actually make teeth appear more yellow. If you want a whitening effect stick with cool tones.

Hoildays

If there is an upcoming holiday, then here’s your chance to get creative and have some fun. I particularly love the look of more than one color as it gives a vibe. So for example if it is almost halloween, then black and orange braces colors will look cool. Match the color theme of the holiday and you are golden. Holidays are the perfect excuse to have fun with your braces colors. For Christmas try red and green or silver and gold. For valentines day try red and pink or rose gold. Express yourself through out the year and have fun.

Seasonal

Seasons can be a great braces color guide. Summer colours for example should be bright, while fall takes on a warmer darker vibe. Spring is so pastel and winter is colder and more blue, white and greys. Spring calls for pastels likes soft pink, light blue, mint green and baby yellow. Summer is all bright and tropical so go for turquoise, hot pink, lime green and coral. Fall iOS your moment for warm rich tones like burnt orange, deep red, gold and burgundy. Winter pairs beautifully with cool jewel tones like deep purple, sapphire blue, silver and white.

Hair color

Picking a braces color by your hair color has got to be one of my favorites methods. Hair color is something that can really pop and result in some of the best braces colors for you. so pairing a color with your smile look really cute. For example blondes look great with sky blue, navy, teal, silver, grey, lilac. Brunettes look amazing with: lavender, turquoise, deep purples, emerald green and hot pink. Red heads look amazing with sapphire blue, burgundy, plum, navy blue and emerald green. The reason this works is because cool tones in your braces will compliment cooler hair tones, and warm metallics work with warmer hair. Fir blondes with cooler undertones, sky blue and silver create harmony. For redheads, deep jewel tones like sapphire and emerald make red hair pop while whitening teeth appearance. For brunettes with warm undertones , turquoise and warm golds work beautifully together.
